Spray Tan
Spray tan has really excelled in recent years with more and more women realising the dangers of sun beds... Sun beds as you know can do the body a lot of damage... a much safer option to have the same effect is sunless spray tan.
The solutions now are not only very natural looking but they also last well, as long as you look after your skin, as in moisturising everyday and being gentle with your skin when drying yourself.
There are so many
companies
out there, ones that I have used in the past and can recommend as being the most natural looking are: - L.A.Tan
- Bali Sun
- Heavenly Bodies
- St Tropez
- Sothys
- Decleor
- Calafornia Tan

However there are lots more, that I have heard of that others have tried, like Fake Bake, Xen Tan, Sun Laborities, Sienna X, Fantasy Tan, He-She Tan, and many more.Of course you have all your high stret brands like Dove, Olay, Lancaster, Avon, Lancolme, and so many more. I have placed a couple of banners on this page of companies who supply tans for you to use at home.
The main ingrediants found in most brands.
DHA is primarily used as an ingredient. It is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, and by the fermentation of glycerin. The tan is not a dye, stain or paint, but a chemical reaction between the DHA and the amino acids in the dead layer on the skin surface. This is similar to a reaction well known to food chemists called the Maillard reaction. This refers to the browning process during food manufacturing and storage. It does not involve skin pigmentation nor does it require exposure to ultraviolet light to initiate the color change. The tan is temporary and will fade gradually over 3 to 10 days. Some products use Erythrulose combined with the DHA. Erythrulose works identically to DHA on the skin surface, but develops more slowly. The two chemicals used together may produce a longer lasting sunless tan. Some companies will add essential oils to give a nice fragrance as some tans can have an unpleasant smell, also aloe vera and other natural ingredients like coco butter, coconut oil, avocado, organic rose-hip, and shea butter to moisturise and nourish your skin. Some solutions also contain anti-oxidants and vitamins A & E to protect against the signs of aging. The above information was taken from Wikipedia So as you can see a lot goes into this bottle to give us a sun kissed look.
Benefits Of A Spray Tan. A much safer and healthier option of have a sun kissed bronze all over glow. A lot of women want have asked me are spray tans natural loking these days, well yes they are. Some can last up to 2 weeks depending on how you maintain it. Makes you look and feel good. It's amazing when some people see you they would never know it’s not real, they think you have been on holiday. Getting someone else to do it is much easier for example it’s not easy applying it to your back. You can go as light or dark as you want ...there is a colour for all. Salons have a greater access to professional tans and special machines with which to apply it. If you decide the salon is not an option for you then there are a lot of good brands online and in the shops to chose from which are becoming easier to apply yourself. A lot of companies sell a spray tan in a can, you just always have to watch your hands, making sure you wash them after you have applied your tan.
Contra Indications. Skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema. Cuts and bruises, open wounds. Allergies although the therapist can check out the ingredients first. Pregnancy but only if essential oils are in it, again this can check to see.

What Happens When I Go To Have A Spray Tan Done At A Salon?First of all the night before the tan is your preparation as in you need to exfoliate and moisturise the skin thoroughly. You need to be wearing old underwear and loose clothing. No perfume or deodorant on the skin.If you are not shy then it is taking of your clothes down to the underwear. Make sure though when you go you feel comfortable with the therapist, and if you are shy tell her, the last thing you want is to be uncomfortable. Then the therapist will be able to start spraying the body starting at the top. After you have been sprayed it needs to dry. Some salons use a hairdryer to make sure you are fully dried and able to get changed. Also some spray tans are quick drying.
Things To Be Aware Of. After you have had the spray tan done you must keep your skin away from water for 2 hours. You will be able to have a shower the next day but need to make sure it’s at least a minimum of 8 hrs after the tan has been done. You will notice that when you do have your shower a residue will come of the skin, but only if the tan that was applied was dark going on. This will not be the colour you are going to be, it is there as a guide for the therapist so that she can see where she has applied the tan. If you look after the tan as in the day after the tan, make sure you moisturise it every day. It will really last a lot longer, you also need to make sure you do not exfoliate or be rough with your skin. And the one most important point is don’t get paranoid about it, it won’t be orange, you won’t have been tangoed...And it is very durable, you just have to watch out if you are patting your skin especially after it has been done, because it can go onto your fingers. Please, please make sure you go to someone who has been recommended to you, make sure you have seen there work as a lot can go wrong with the tan when you have an inexperienced therapist or a therapist who is always in a hurray.
