Skin Care Classes

Back in 2000 I was teaching skin care classes at the local college where I lived. I really enjoyed it as did the students. So this got me thinking what if I could do something similar online and so here I am, doing my skin care classes with you.

skin care classes
Now this will be a bit different in the fact that I am not physically seeing you face to face, however what I want to do is to share my knowledge with you, giving you information about the following:

Diagnosing your skin type.

Skin care routine.

Skin care Companies who can supply you with brilliant products.

So our first step in our skin care classes is what skin type are you. This is very important to know as it will make a huge difference with the products you buy, and the improvement you will see in your skin.

There are 4 Skin Types, which are:

  • Normal
  • Dry
  • Combination
  • Oily

So the first part of these Skin Care Classes is finding out what each type of skin looks like and how it feels, basically how to diagnose it. So let’s look at the first one:

Normal Skin.

This Skin Type is not as common as you may think, and if you have it well done. With this skin type you will have the right balance in oil levels, there will be no imperfections. The colour of your skin will be glowing with health. Firmness and the tone of the skin will be taught and finally you will be a younger person.

Dry Skin.

This Skin Type again is not to popular in fact it is quite rare to find somebody who has it. Where people get confused is some areas of the skin will be dry as opposed to the whole face.

With this Skin Type you will notice a creamy complexion, thin skin, tone and firmness will not be as taught as a normal skin and most importantly you will have no open pores.

People with this Skin Type can be any age, however you will start to show signs of premature ageing and may notice fine lines and wrinkles which can make you sometimes look a little older than you are.

Combination Skin.

This Skin Type will have Dryness, Oilyness and areas that will be Normal. You will have heard of the T-Zone (which means the areas of the face, across the forehead, nose and chin) where the skin is oily, you may find also that the cheek area is Normal or it could be Dry or Both.

So as you can see your whole face is a combination of different factors. You can be any age. You will also find the Skin Tone and Firmness will be good.

Oily Skin.

This type again is not as common but slightly more common than dry, people with this type of skin will find their skin is thicker, with a shiny oily appearance, it can look dull and could be showing signs of scarring from spots. People who have acne will have an oily skin.

Now during these Skin Care Classes I also want to keep things simple for you to understand in order to gain the knowledge needed for you to learn. Please note this is just information if you want to go and learn professionally you need to do what I did.

Now a lot of people seem to get confused with skin types and conditions so the following will help you understand more. There are only 4 types of skin as mentioned above and you will have only 1 type. But we can also be prone to separate issues that we can be faced with and these I call Skin Conditions. Below is the list of these.

skin care classes
  • Dehydration
  • Sensitivity
  • Reactive
  • Premature Ageing
  • Sun Damage
  • Hormonal Excessive Oiliness

So our next stage in our skin care classes is understanding what these skin conditions are.

Dehydration.

This term means a lack of water, so if you think of a the ground we walk on, what happens to it during the summer when we have no rain, it starts to dry up, feels brittle the soil is really dry it’s like a powder and cracks start to appear between the soil, the colouring is also different. So this is what happens to our skin when we have a lack of water in it.

Sensitive.

This condition is quite rare much to the contray as very few people suffer with this, most people will fall into the category below this.

Okay so what this means is your skin is so sensitive there is very little that can go on it. Really not pleasant and this can also mean not being able to go out in the sun, all sorts.

People who suffer from this really know they have it and there are now more great companies to supply you with say for example a great organic facial moisturizer

Reactive

As it says this skin type reacts to certain ingrediants but perhaps not others, it's finding what works for you and also what I have found in the past especially with my the facial clients I did was this.

Quite a few were unable to use a lot of products but when they started on Sothys they were fine and then went on from the sensitive range that they do, to another range like the Hydroptimale for example. Find out about the advantages of a sothys facial here

However this may not be the case for everyone, it's a bit of trial and error, got to be open and try things and then when you find what suits then that's it.

Premature Aging

More and more people are causing this condition as they are unfortunately in the sun a lot, sun worshippers. I know the sun makes us feel good and is good for the skin but you need to protect it.

A lot of clients used to try to fool themselves by not using sun care products as they were able to take a good tan, but that's the mistake.

You do need to use it and unfortunately when you look around society these days, the people who sunbathe a lot or the sunbed users they suffer from premature ageing.

skin care classes
So in other words premature ageing is another word for dehydration and then you have people who only use soap and water and also smokers, which again eventually causes dehydration.

So look after it. By the way if you want to quit smoking you can listen to 2 free hypnosis to stop smoking sessions by clicking here. [these recordings are done by me]

I remember a lady saying to me years ago about how to look after my skin, she asked me to imagine a grand piano all shiny and pristine and elegant, how would I look after it.

So she said would I use a brillo pad and jif and scrub it when it got dirty or would I look for a good quality wood cleaner and lovingly clean it.

So how do you want to look after your skin, think of it like a grand piano. And at the end of the day like the piano the age and life of your skin depends on how you look after it.

Hormonal, Excessive Oiliness

This type of skin condition is common in a lot of women and actually it is common among the different age groups too. I believe it is definitely down to a change in hormone levels, some women get this in their teenage years others can get it after pregnancy, we are all different and unique.

Okay so basically what happens is that your body over produces say for example testosterone and progesterone which then results in more sebum (oil) on the surface of the epidermis and this can leads to spots or adult acne.

Now with this over production of hormones some women in some cases will develop hair growth on their face which is not good, but help is available.

skin care classes
Okay if you suffer a hormonal imbalance or you have excessive oily skin then you need to be careful of the products you use.

You also need to make sure you keep your skin clean, but making sure the products you use are not to strong, especially with adult acne. Some products are too harsh and can make the skin sensitive to touch and tender if you have a bit of inflammation around the spots.

Now a great company who supply brilliant products which you can purchase, is Sothys and I have been using them for 9 years now. I got fantastic results for a young teenage boy who's mother came into the beauty salon I used to have and bought some of the Sothys products for him...he was to shy to come in himself...bless...

Here is what I recommended to him:

Biological Skin Peel

Oil control serum

Hydra Matte Fulid

Okay so something else we need to look at in our skin care classes is how to look after your skin at home, a good skin care routine which is an important step in these skin care classes.

So now that you have a better understanding of the skin type that you are and chances is that it might be combination as this seems to be the most common that I have come across.

Is your routine and this is so important in these skin care classes. As I used to say to the students on the skin care classes at college, make the routine a good enjoyable habit.
