Welcome to pedicure ideas. Our feet go through even more abuse than our hands and suffer from a lot more problems. The most common issues I have seen with people's feet over the years is hard skin on the heels... it's all cracked and thick looking.
I have also seen a lot of ingrown toe nails and fungal infections like athletes foot. There is also a lot of discolouration of the nails especially the big toe nail. The toe nails tend to have a lot of ridges and has a thickened appearance.
Feet can get really sore and tired and another common problem for people is cutting their own nails...Getting a treatment done is not only relaxing it can be a necessity for some people.
Whilst I did the traditional pedicure treatment is not the same as a chiropodist, it is still a comprehensive treatment on the foot and nail though.
Some people also think that having diabetes will prevent them from having a pedicure, I did lots of clients over the years that had diabetes, and obviously I was more careful. I didn't use the pedicure knife which could cut them...
However there are some great products which can remove dead skin like a great product called Callus Peel which is great at removing dead skin around the heels. Works in 15 minutes...
Benefits and Pedicure Ideas.
Your feet will look and feel so much better.
Your nails will be short and manageable and comfortable.
Dead Skin is removed.
Nails are polished and presentable, great if you want to cover up imperfections.
The feet are usually soaked in solution in the foot spa to soften the cuticles and hard skin for later, for about 5 mins, in nice warm water. (Usually the therapist will work on one foot at a time and shape your nails square as this is best and helps prevent ingrown toe nails).
Then they take out one foot and file it and put cuticle cream on it and massage that in and then it goes back into the water to soften further. Then the other foot is filed and cuticle softner is applied and then back into the water.
Then they should go back to the first foot and start to work on the cuticles pushing back the excess skin and trim it if necessary.
This foot is then exfoliated to remove hard skin - if you have severe hard skin ask if your therapist has the callus peel treatment. It is great I used this a lot. Once applied it should be left on for 15 mins then removed by rinsing with clean water.
Once this is done the foot should be dried and kept out of the water. The other foot is taken out of the water and dried. Then the cuticles are pushed back gently and trimmed if necessary.
This foot is then exfoliated to remove hard skin. Then it is quickly rinsed and dried, ready for massage, this is so relaxing, clients often nearly fell asleep.
Your choice of polish is applied. Opi polish lasts really well, doesn't chip and just comes away from the top of the nail as it starts to grow.
Great Pedicure Ideas .
The french pedicure is popular, that is having the tips of the toe nail white. With either a pink or peach colour underneath. Now you can have the tips bright white or dull them down slightly with the coloured polish that you are also using on the toe nail.
To add a bit of glamour you could finish off with a glitter top coat and you could also use transfers of jewels on the toe nails, so many possibilities.
There are lots of great products to to soothe, hydrate and calm the feet. Aromatherapy oils like Tea Tree can be used to soak your feet in, Lemongrass and Lavender are also great and the smell is wonderful, nice and fresh. I have had a lot of fun over the years with clients.
Also a paraffin wax pedicure can be done to soften hard skin, it can help with aches and pains to. Heated boots can be used and with this the foot can be covered in a hydrating mask, covered in cling film and then put into the heated boots for 10-15 minutes.
A pedicure is relaxing because it is always a good feeling when your feet are comfortable and refreshed. Easier when someone else pampers your feet to.
