I got great results with it over the years, so I know it works. If you are looking to get this treatments done here is the website of the people who make this machine centromed.com
What Is Lymphatic Massage Therapy
Lymphatic massage is a form of treatment which stimulates the blood flow. Usually the therapist would apply pressure on the limbs. Your brain then reacts and causes more enzymes to flow through the body, giving the person a feeling of well being, improving nutrition, blood flow and re-oxygenates the limb.
The traditional Lymphatic Massage Therapy Treatment is hands on as in a therapist physically massages your limbs and can use bandages with light pressure to make the treatment effective especially when treating leg ulcers for example.
However with this treatments it is a wee bit different, there is no therapist, the machine does the massage instead..
What Is The Lymphatic System
Many of the body’s cells receive essential components to sustain life from a blood filtrate called interstitial fluid. Waste products like urea, carbon dioxide and excess fluid are transported back to the circulatory system via a network of vessels and nodes collectively termed the Lymphatic System.
The fluid contained within these vessels is referred to as lymph. Movement of lymph is stimulated by muscle activity, changes in interstitial pressure and respiration.
The lymph nodes filter toxins and other harmful substances from the lymph. Your Lymphatic System is also responsible for producing anti bodies and anti toxins to fight infections which try to enter the body.
What Is The Treatment
Body Gold is also known as Sequential Compression Therapy. This treatment uses multi chambered garments and air compressed on the limb to move excess tissue fluid and assist in the circulation of the blood.
Ten chamber garments are used with air filling each chamber in turn. The first chamber is filled, then the second. As the third chamber starts to fill, air is transferred from the first creating a peristaltic motion progressing from over the leg. This creates the same effect as an effleurage massage movement, allowing you to control fluid movement.
Tissue fluid is pushed through the interstitial spaces, passing into the vessels of the venous system and eventually being excreted via the kidneys. Surplus fluid is drained into the lymphatic vessels simultaneously.
Varying pressure can be applied to either arm or leg depending on the conditions to be treated. By using a 40 second cycle a light massage can be achieved, the 60 second cycle deepens the massage, whilst the 120 second cycle really pushes the fluid deep through the interstitial spaces.
It is a very effective treatment and as I said earlier it definately works, I have seen the evidence for myself.
