Lip Waxing

Lip waxing is becoming more and more popular with women these days, this was what most of my former clients had done, this and chin.

Shaving is more convenient but really not so good in the fact that when the hair grows back, it is stubbly, darker and course.Really not good if you have darker hair.

A lot of women really are not sure of waxing because of the fact the hair needs to be a certain length, however if you can let it grow the rewards are really good.

Here are some benefits:

  • Once you have had you lip waxing done whether at home or in a salon on average it should last anything between 4-6 weeks, depending on the individual of course.

  • When the hairs grow back in they are softer and finer.

  • Over a period of time the hair on the lip becomes patchy and in some cases it doesn't grow back, some women have noticed this quite quickly.

  • It is fairly quick and if done properly there should be no cuts or bruises.

One thing I will say is it is sore especially in the middle the bows furrow. Now when you do your own lip waxing or get it done this is what you need to be aware of:

  • You cannot do any waxing if your skin has been exposed to the sun or sunbed just before you get your waxing done or just after it.

  • Open wounds and cuts.

  • Recent Surgery under 6 months.

  • Skin infections like bacterial or fungal that can spread to other areas of the body like for example impetigo.

  • The wax is not to hot, this is a sensitive area, test on your wrist first, or if going to a salon make sure the therapist has tested the wax on herself before she puts it on you.

  • When the lip is being waxed it needs to be prepared, that is cleansed with a pre wax cleanser, talc applied and then you are ready for the wax to be applied.

Once this is done it is so important the skin is stretched to the side and is taught, a good way to do this is using your fingers just stretch your skin or you can have your mouth wide open and use your fingers to pull it down more.

However when you get to the middle bit you would need to stretch the skin to the side and have your mouth open. This way it will not be quite as bad, it does sting but it is quick.

Straight after it has been waxed by the therapist she should apply soothing lotion. Personally I used the Refrence 3 A cream on my clients which I found to be best for the lip. However you can also use aloe vera, or GiGi Post Moisturiser Lotion I used this to and did like it..

If you are doing your own lip waxing it will be the same. Do not wear any make up for 24-48 hrs as you can get tiny spots. You can find more information here and if you are going to be doing your own you will need some supplies Sally Beauty Supplies are open to the public as well as trade. You can also go to my online shop.

So good luck and all the best with your lip waxing, may it be a great success and great that you have discovered the benefits of waxing. Bye for now...
