Benefits

eyelash tinting
Lash tinting is basically having your lashes dyed to make them stand out. Tint and peroxide are used to achieve this. The results are very good indeed. A great alternative to mascara especially if you have allergies.

You will also notice they have been done, they will look darker, show the true length and as one client said it looked like she had mascara and eyeliner on, she said it was good as she can't do the eyeliner thing!

Now just to let you know it doesn't make your lashes longer, it just colours them which gives the appearance as if you were wearing make up.

Is Eyelash Tinting Safe?

Now there are a lot of differing opinions on eyelash tinting, some say not to get it done, well I can honestly say to you that in the 15 years when i used to tint eyelashes I only came across 3 people who had a problem with it.

Now considering I had done it thousands of times I'd say that was a great result wouldn't you. Don't get me wrong though, do check out your local salon if you are going to get it done, make sure they know what they are doing, go to one that is highly recommended, this is so important.

What Eyelash Tinting Product Do I Recommend?

  • I have a few that I have tried but my number one favourite is Dermabelle.
  • Next would be Combinal Eyelash Tint.
  • Refectocil.

Dermabelle, this product is brilliant, I loved it and so did my former clients. Here is why...

The quality was superior and it lasted a lot longer ( 6-12 weeks depending on the individual) than some other brands. Basically it is a vegetable dye which is mixed with water so no peroxide, much better as a lot of people have a problem with the stinging caused by the peroxide.

You can visit their site here to find out more.

I have to say when I first bought their eyelash tinting colours I really did think, it would not work as I was so used to using peroxide, but it surprised me and clients loved it and noticed a big difference. I'd say go for it, you won't be disappointed. They are based in the US but ship all over the world.

The popular colors that Dermabelle supply for eyelash tinting are:

  • Black
  • Black/Black
  • Blue/Black
  • Purple/Black
  • Dark/Medium/Light Brown
  • Amber
  • Mahogany...and many more.

It was good to experiment a bit with the blends, good when tinting the eyebrows, especially when you were dealing with a person with red hair.

Actually red hair is one of the most challenging when it comes to brow tinting as depending on the tint, the hair can go green. This happened to me a college when I was training.

One thing I will mention also is after your eyelashes have been done you can wear mascara if you want, there is no written rule saying you can't it's just a lot of people prefer not to, as mascara doesn't suit them or they may be allergic to it.

Also short lashes can be tinted, I have done this in the past but it is a challenge and sometimes the tint can stain the skin and this will stay stained for a couple of days.

Also deep set eyes are also a challenge and when people have to close their eyes in order for the tint to be put on the top lashes, sometimes the tint gets on the skin and can stain it, so just be aware before you decide to have it done.

I used to tell people not to close their eyes to tightly as again tint can get onto the skin. Also if you do not like people working round your eyes, or find it hard to keep them open, then it will not be a good idea to get it done as the eyes will be too watery.

What is the Best Mascara for Tinted Lashes.

Well in my opinion it is Blinc. If you have never tried it I recommend you do. I bought it to try and really loved it. It does as it says, no smudging, running, stays on perfect and very easy to get of.

That is a problem with a lot of waterproof mascaras, getting them off. You just use warm water to remove it...I have to say I was very surprised with just how easy it was.

So for me if you want to use mascara after eyelash tinting then this is the one to use, you'll love it! Also another great idea for your eyes is to use a good eye serum and lash conditioner...
